Charlton could lose key man for free this summer

|

Our fate was sealed last night when we got sent back to down to League One at the hands of Leeds United after a 4-0 beating showing the team that we are not capable of staying in this unforgiving league. As much as I want to be positive there is also more news that is going to be like a hammer blow to Addicks.

Can you get 25/25 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

As well as the uncertain future surrounding manager Lee Bowyer we now have to deal with the fact that we could lose center-back Tom Lockyer on a free as a relegation release clause is involved in his contract which I think was a very risky move from whoever typed up that contract.

Relegation was always on the cards for Charlton this season and to have relegation release clauses put into a contract seems like a reckless move so now we can’t even profit on a sale for Lockyer.

He has played 43 times for the South-London side this term which has also earned him call ups for the Wales squad so expect his name to be in high demand, if anyones fate is sealed it’s certainly Tom Lockyer’s.

  • Martyn Don Ounstead says:

We will be losing many contracted players who’s contracts come to an end and cannot be renewed. Loanees will return to their home clubs to fight another day, Taylor and Solly long fled in disgrace like rats jumping ship.
So what remains, spirit, fantastic fans, hopefully new owners waiting in the wings who can save our club.
