Wow what a game that was!

Charlton did not fail to meet expectations in this one as Charlton and Hull really battled it out on Saturday as the game went on for 101 minutes probably one of the longest games played in Championship history. Gudmundsson bagged a very late 98th minute header after Simon Makienok laid off a fantastic header assist to Johann as he pummelled the ball in to the back of the net after a very strong header.

Charlton got off to a shaky start early on but as it got to around the 20th minute mark we showed that we wanted this game more than Hull did. Unfortunately Ceballos went off because of an injury and was replaced by youngster Karlan Ahearne-Grant but KAG failed to impress most people after 2 misses in the first half one of them was an absolute sitter as it went flying in to row Z in the Jimmy Seed stand.

There was one highlight in the first half and that was the match ball busting as Simon Makienok went to pass the ball and it just popped don`t know if it his strength or the ball just being flimsy but anyway it was a nice addition to the game I guess and it was nice to see that the ball was kicked in to the stands so a fan could have it.

Having Ceballos added to the injury list is also bad because we already have Tony Watt, Chris Solly and Stephen Henderson out with injuries and now adding another main player to that list could prove to be costly, looks like our physio has a lot of work to do this season!

The second half sprung to life and so did Charlton right from the get go as Gudmundsson sent in a great cross to Simon Makienok to header it in to the back of the net in front of the home fans and then after that Charlton were absolutely excellent Makienok and Gudmundsson went together like jam on toast and are forming what looks like a great partnership as both of the goals are products from them as Makienok set up Johann’s goal in the 98th minute.

When that 98th minute goal went in the stadium erupted and so did Guy Luzon and his celebration was hilarious as he jumped on to the players who were all bundling Johann at the time as he fell straight to the ground and then he got back up and gave them a very enthusiastic pat on the back which was like a slap on the back.

When Luzon got back to the technical area the referee came over to him and sent him to the stands and then afterwards he sat with the fans taking pictures and having a chat with them, fantastic actions from the manager.

To be honest on that day everything was perfect, I got my prediction right and we managed to sweep aside another relegated Premier League team to make it two wins at The Valley this season let’s hope our form continues in to the rest of the season and make The Valley a fortress again!

Did you enjoy the game? What do you think the season holds for us?
