Carabao Cup Match Preview: Charlton Athletic v Forest Green Rovers

Charlton face Forest Green Rovers at The Valley tonight for their first cup game of the 2019/20 season.

The hosts come into tonight’s game with back-to-back wins against Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Lee Bowyer and his men are undefeated at home in the league for an impressive 311 days, but in the cup its a different story. Last season, the Addicks faced MK Dons at Stadium MK in the Carabao Cup first round and lost 3-0.

The visitors won their first round of The Carabao Cup 1-0 against Swindon Town. They also come into this fixture unbeaten after a win against Oldham and a draw against Walsall in League Two.

Sam Field, Jake Forster-Caskey and Macauley Bonne are all expected to get some game time, Lee Bowyer revealed.

Chuks Aneke is back in the game after coming on as a sub against Stoke City, scoring a goal on his debut he is expected to play in tonight’s fixture.

Beram Kayal, Charlton’s newest signing and Brighton loanee picked up an injury and will be unavailable for tonights encounter. Lewis Page is still out with an injury to his hamstring.

Charlton are awaiting a response about the Tomer Hemed deal from The FA.

Forest Green

Rovers’ right-back, Liam Shepherd is out with a knee injury alongside central defender, Darren’s Rawson, who picked up a head injury and was taken to hospital on Saturday against Walsall

This will be the first competitive match between the two sides.
