Can We Shoot Down The Stags?

|

After a disastrous display at Field Mill the home of Mansfield Town we now have a replay on our hands, something Charlton could do without and here we are now. The injuries have stacked up but we keep on fighting and luckily we did not feature this weekend due to the international break. However, it’s only going to get a lot harder from here on out, although we can do something against this Mansfield team who currently sit 5th in League Two they won’t make it easy for us as we gathered in the previous fixture.

Here are some facts about the away team

Founded-1897

Nickname-The Stags

Ground-Field Mill(9,186)

Manager-David Flitcroft

Top scorer-Tyler Walker(11)

Mansfield whist in the 3rd division beat West Ham 3-0 this West Ham team consisted of Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and former Charlton player Billy Bonds.

In team news, we start with the Stags and it’s just the two injuries for them as David Mirfin and Alex McDonald recover from Knee injuries as midfielder Otis Khan is a doubt for tonight’s match.

Now for the home side, Billy Clarke looks like he is set to start after manager Lee Bowyer made it clear he intends for Clarke to get more minutes under his belt. Lyle Taylor is back from international duty after being with Montserrat, however, I think it’s highly unlikely he will start this game or feature in any part of it at all. This game will be more of a youth centred game I would have thought, it does give the youngsters the opportunity to show Bowyer and Jacko what they can do and I hope they can really impress the coaching staff.

For my prediction I reckon a 2-1 win is on the cards for Charlton, it won’t be an easy game with Mansfield being unbeaten in their last 14 games so we could even an upset here which we are all hoping we don’t see. Personally, I would love to see a cup run but with the injuries, we have got this season I don’t think the squad can handle another competition to compete in but a run in one of the most famous cups in the world is always great!
