Can Charlton continue their red hot form against Nottingham Forest?

|

Charlton take on Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night in their first televised game of the season and will be looking to build upon their impressive start to the campaign.

The Addicks sit in second place with seven points from a possible nine in their first three games this season, holding out to a 2-2 draw against Barnsley on Saturday and Lee Bowyer’s men will be looking to keep up their fantastic home form and continue their brilliant start to life back in the Championship.

Nottingham Forest, who were ninth in the Championship last season, have recorded four points so far, running away 3-0 winners against Birmingham City at the weekend and will be looking to build upon that commanding performance.

Team News

New signings Erhun Oztumer and Tomer Hemed could well feature for the Addicks, although it may be too soon for them to get a place in the starting squad.

Lewis Page and Beram Kayal are also expected to be sidelined, as well as Chris Solly, who came off of his 300th appearance for Charlton against Barnsley with a concussion and is set to be out for two weeks.

Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi has confirmed that defender Yohan Benalouane will be unavailable after undergoing surgery and is expected to mix up his squad in order to keep his players fresh.

Tyler’s Take

This game could well be our most challenging yet. With the squad exceeding what many fans have expected of us, I’m confident that the morale will be through the roof and the team will be raring to go after an amazing start to 2019/20.

However, Nottingham Forest are a very good side who have made some decent signings over the summer, including Alfa Semedo, Sammy Ameobi, Yuri Ribeiro and Tiago Silva, who scored a wondergoal against Fleetwood in the Carabao Cup last week. These players are joined by the likes of Lewis Grabban, Matty Cash and Joe Lolley, all of which will be causing problems.

I’m expecting Deji Oshilaja to fill in for the injured Solly and I don’t think Bowyer will make many changes as the team has been fantastic thus far, however I believe that the opposition will be beaming with confidence after thrashing Birmingham over the weekend and they’ll be too strong for the current top scorers in the division.

My prediction: Charlton Athletic 0-2 Nottingham Forest
