Bowyer urges the players to keep the foot on the pedal as we travel to Cardiff

|

Lee Bowyer has always been a great motivator and it’s being proven once again as The Addicks go into the Cardiff City game with a 100% post-lockdown record and the confidence is certainly high in the camp.

Can you get 25/25 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

We are starting to show what we can do, we can control the games to our liking where we end up scoring one and then keeping the opposition at bay for the rest of the game and that is Bowyer’s doing, drilling it into their heads as every point counts right now.

Now that we are three points clear from the relegation zone we need to make sure we don’t lose focus and that is something Bowyer is working on with the lads.

The gaffer spoke to The London Evening Standard and here is what he had to say

“We are not out of it yet, we have to keep fighting until the end. I do not let the players relax and let them think that is it. Just because you have had a good performance, it does not mean everything is rosy.

“We have got a lot of teams around us and you have to be at it every day. That is in training too, because if you come off it in training, it will show in matches.

“They are a good group and they want to work hard, but I will be reminding them that we need to go again because there are three points at stake tonight.”

We all know the confidence is high right now, but we must not underestimate Cardiff, we know they are a good side and it could get ugly out there tonight, but hopefully, we can scrape another 1-0 win to take us even further away from relegation.
