Bowyer to make harsh decisions regarding his squad

|

There has not been a lot of players for Lee Bowyer to choose from as of late, but now that the transfer window has come to a close he managed to get four new additions for the squad which makes Lee’s job harder (and easier at the same time) in the way he likes it and that is having a headache on who to choose for his starting XI and bench.

Who was Charlton's first-ever manager?

However, it’s now time for Lee to start getting brutal with the players in terms of their game time as we now have a much larger squad to rotate around games.

One man who has been missing from the team altogether recently is one club man Chris Solly as Adam Matthews has been a regular starter since November.

Bowyer spoke in his weekly press conference today and here is what he had to say

“Adam has been doing well, Adam is improving loads and getting better with his fitness and that’s making him better as well.

“Because Deji has been in the squad he can play right-back, centre-half or centre-midfield – he covers a lot of positions. That’s why Sols has missed out, because we are getting bodies back.”

Bowyer also went on to talk about how he will be rotating his squad going forward

“There are going to be more missing out because we’ve just added three more to the squad.

“I’d much rather have that headache rather than bringing in people who might not be ready just because I have to.

“Players are going to miss out because of the opposition we play, the type of game it will be or recovery.”

I got to say it’s been slightly exciting seeing these new names pop up on the bench every now and again, but unfortunately, not all of them are as ready as others to step out on to The Valley pitch and put in a strong confident performance.

Thankfully we look to have a strong team put together here with plenty of depth in the midfield which is something Bowyer definitely wanted to happen after using James Vennings and Ben Dempsey in the squad who were just not ready for it yet.
