Bowyer confirms summer transfer rumour

|

Back in the summer, we had rumours floating around that Tom Eaves was training with the club, although these turned out to be just rumours and nothing more we have now just been told by Bowyer himself that he was in fact interested in the 27-year-old.

The news came from Richard Cawley of The South London Press as he revealed Lee’s intentions of signing the 6 foot 3 target man

“We were interested in him but weren’t allowed to bring him in, we spoke with him, but we weren’t allowed.”

“Their front three are good, their two wingers [Grosicki and Bowen] are the biggest threats and they’ve got big Eaves doing well. Okay, he doesn’t score many goals but he does a lot for the team. They get around him – he’s a big target man who causes problems.

“They’ve got players who can hurt you and are established Championship players.”

Would you have liked Tom Eaves at Charlton?

Yes

No

Although at the time acquiring Eaves’ signature would have been seen as a great signing, if you look at his goal return for Hull City it’s not exactly something to shout about with just 2 goals in 19 appearances for The Tigers.

To be honest, at the time I would have snapped him straight up after having a couple of decent seasons with Gillingham in League One scoring 21 in 43 last campaign, but his showing this season has really put me off the idea, I know he is one of those strikers who do a lot more than score, but he hardly puts it in the back of the net in The Championship.

Maybe he was a lucky escape for us.
