Bowyer calls for fans unity after tough week away from home

|

Lee Bowyer is happy that Charlton are finally back home after spending a week on the road at Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town respectively and now Lee Bowyer is calling for the fans to make their voice heard as he aims for all three points when Middlesbrough visit The Valley tomorrow afternoon.

The fan unity is what’s got us through those hard games against more superior opposition such as Leeds and West Brom to name a couple of them, where we have picked up five points from just those two teams in three games, which I think is quite impressive seeing as we are fighting for survival.

Charlton have won just 3 games at home in the last 10, drawing 4 and losing 3 whereas Middlesbrough have only won twice away from home this season against West Brom and Preston North End, two oppositions we know are not easy to get three points from.

Lee Bowyer spoke with Richard Cawley from The South London Press and here is what he had to say

“The most important thing is we’re going to be playing at home,” said boss Bowyer. “That’s what I’m looking forward to.

“We have had two tough away games and now we’re going to need all the fans to get behind us, like they always do, because the players need that now.

Bowyer continued

“Whether we like it or not, we’re in this situation [fighting to stay in the Championship]. We are in it. And the players are going to need the fans to get behind them – the fans have been great, home and away.

“They are going to play a massive part and I said that from the beginning. They will have played as big a part as anyone if we do stay up, and I believe we will. They [the supporters] will be invaluable in that.”

I said something similar to this in an article earlier this week, that we all need to get down The Valley and support the lads as much as we can because the noise we make drives them on, if we didn’t sing as loud as we do in these big games I wouldn’t even want to think of where we could be in the table right now. It could be a lot worse.

Just 10 games to go and this one could probably be the biggest of them all, we still have Wigan to come but in terms of the circumstances, we are in now this one is the big match!

It’s going to be a relegation dogfight at The Valley tomorrow afternoon so make sure you bring your singing voices and cheer on the boys!!
