Those high-flying Seagulls will swoop on The Valley tomorrow, looking for another three points to feast upon, but will the Addicks be party poopers?

Gus Poyet’s side are not an archetypal League One outfit. They play neat, passing football but can be derailed if the opposition play a high tempo game and close their space and options down. The Seagulls are not a high scoring side, they have failed to net more than twice in any league game this season so a goalfest is unlikely.

The secret for Charlton will be their attitude. If Parkinson concentrates on his own team’s strengths rather than worrying too much about the opposition there is no reason why the Addicks can not win.

Brighton are clear at the top, have a good record at The Valley and will be backed by well over 3000 travelling fans, so will be full of confidence.

The Charlton team is full of experienced players who should relish a game such as this. If they show enough desire, the hosts should take the spoils.

Rob Elliot will be in goal but Parkinson will have a decision or two to make about his back-four. Simon Francis’ absence, coupled with Chris Solly’s injury, meant Christian Dailly had to shuffle acrross to the right at Plymouth with Doherty and Fotune inside him. Dailly done well enough and is experienced at right-back but would the manager have selected him to play there if his hand wasn’t forced? Probably not, so Francis is likely to return to mark the dangerous Kazenga LuaLua. Jon Fortune, who has done nothing wrong since his return, may be the one to miss out. Johnnie Jackson will complete the back line.

Scott Wagstaff picked up a foot inhury at Plymouth but is expected to be available. Wagstaff may be forced to sit on the bench to accomodate Lee Martin though. Semedo and Racon will be in the engine room and their performance will go a long way to determining the outcome of the match. Kyel Reid will supply the magic on the left.

Pawel Abbott and Paul Benson seem to be the preferred striking options with the latter now running into form. Joe Anyinsah is fit again to add pace and power from the bench.
