Biggest game of the season

With just two points separating Charlton and Sheffield United this game will have a big say in determining who stays in the Premiership.

The Addicks will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 loss away to Everton last weekend. A game where we looked set for a decent point which was cruelly taken away right at the death. But that`s football and now we have the chance to play Sheffield Utd off the park, give Neil Warnock something else to moan about after the game, and most importantly of all, jump above the blades and out of the relegation zone.

Sheffield Utd got a massive win against Curb’s West Ham last week but was then brought back down to earth with a 2-0 loss at Man Utd midweek.
Now they have to come to The Valley for a game against a side that are playing well at home and you would make Charlton favourites to take all three points.

Tomorrows game is the Addicks get out of jail card and we must use it to stand any realistic chance of getting away from the danger zone.

Alan Pardew has described this as a ‘must win game’ and it’s not difficult to see just how big it will be. If we do win then we once again go above the Yorkshire outfit and could even jump above Wigan and Fulham if results go our way. That would be a massive boost for everyone and would set spirits high going into the away game at Blackburn.

Tomorrow we are back at The Valley where Charlton have been at their strongest.

We have not conceded a goal in our last four home matches while Sheffield United have scored just seven goals away all season. Our back four have been immense lately and with Darren Bent up front this is surely a game well within our reach.

Pardew is hoping Hermann Hreidarsson, Jerome Thomas and Marcus Bent are fit enough to play some part and he could also welcome back Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The club are hoping to sell out the whole away stand at Ewood Park for our match with Blackburn next week. I`m sure three points tomorrow will stick 7500 addicks bums on the seats for the game next week.

The team have got to show us they have the balls to stay up and have to beat Sheffield Utd tomorrow. Do that and we will travel in high number to be the 12th man next week.

Nervous? You bet!

Probable Teams:

Charlton: (4-4-2): Carson, Young, El Karkouri, Diawara, Thatcher, Ambrose, Thomas, Song, D. Bent, Zheng.

Sheffield United: (4-4-2): Kenny, Geary, Jagielka, Morgan, Armstrong, Gillespie, Tonge, Montgomery, Kazim-Richards, Nade, Stead.

Referee: Alan Wiley (Burntwood, Staffordshire).

I am quite confident about tomorrow i think at home right now we can beat anyone below the top 4. The Pards effect is still booming.

  • Pardew is God says:

We need to play well tomorrow with a winning result. If we were to hammer them i think it would rattle them enough to send them down.

Im in a good mood about tomorrow. The one thing that worries me is there forward Shelton. He caused man utd plenty of problems and i can see him doing the same with us tomorrow.

On recent running we deserve to stay up with our results. Sheffield Utd have faded away at the tail end of the year. Would be unreal if they stayed up and we went down. Football it does nightmares for the ticker.

I can’t wait untill tomorrow. We have got to be confident. I won’t start to panic untill we need to beat Liverpool away, now that would cause a problem.

Don’t worry, you’ll still get to come up north and play SUFC next year. http://www.Scunthorpe-united.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Directions/0,,10442,00.html

What planet r u living on Red Robin?! Would be ‘unreal’ for us to stay up and u to go down? Before last week hadn’t we been above u for over 4 months? Go on Steady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant see you guys staying up this time around. I think the Chairman should be shot for the management changes he invoked on your club. If you do go down he should take full responsibility.

I thought the 1-1 draw was a fair result on sat. Looking at our games coming up we might have just blown it but im sure Fulham will be sucked in with us or west ham escaping. Blades do look safe now.
