Basey Waits On Aberdeen Deal

Former Charlton defender Gant Basey (I think it’s safe to call him former now) is still waiting to tie up a contract with Aberdeen, however this is likely.

Basey wasn’t offered a fresh contract at SE7 this summer and has spent the past few weeks training and playing with The Dons during pre-season. The 21-year-old is someone that Dons boss Mark McGhee wants to sign, McGhee said: “We don’t have a left-back at the club.

“We still hope to bring in the boy Grant Basey, but that would be all.”

In order to sign the Welsh U21 international McGhee will firstly have to get some other players off the wage bill, which he plans to do by selling or releasing younger players, adding: “I’ve spoken to one or two people but I keep saying it’ll be the young players, don’t expect any big shocks.

“There has been a lot of rumours about this player and that player, but it will be the young players.”

I’m still sad that Basey’s long career with The Addicks has ended as I think he would have offered us something this season, however it’s not to be and I’ll wish him well at Pittodrie when he finally signs his contract with the Scottish club.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Grant Basey’s latest? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Yes it’s a shame that he’s gone but we’ve got to trust in Parky’s judgement so isn’t it time we moved on?
