Grant Basey’s injury at Bristol Rovers recently was obviously a serious one, however it wasn’t the leg break that was originally feared.

It was soon revealed that he’d only suffered ankle ligament damage (not that it’s good, but it’s better than a break) but this will still keep him out for the rest of the season, as Phil Parkinson told The Official Website: “Grant will have an operation and will be out for the season. We won’t know exactly how long he’ll be out for until after the operation.

“It’s a blow. The tackle has completely ruptured his ligaments.

“The specialist wants to go in there and have a look and then he’ll be able to give us an accurate assessment of when he’ll be back.”

The tackle on the 21-year-old Addicks defender from Dominic Blizzard was a dreadful one and how he only escaped with a yellow card still surprises me. Basey has had his surgery now so we’ll just have to wish him well in his recovery.

I hope he recovers well, it was a poor “challenge”, if you can even call it that!
