Basey On Trial With Aberdeen

Having grown feed up with waiting for a contact offer to come through Grant Basey could follow in Darren Randolph’s footsteps and swap England for Scotland.

Randolph recently signed for Motherwell at the end of his Addicks contract and Basey could move north of the border with Aberdeen, where The South London Press reports that he’s undergoing a weeklong trial.

The 21-year-old is still wanted at SE7 but not on his previous terms so the defender would have to take a pay cut to remain at The Valley.

I’d like to see Basey stay and the fact that he returned to pre-season training even though he was out of contract raised hopes that he would, however now it’s not looking so likely and a move to Scotland would mean that we’d not be compensated in the way we would if he joined an English club.
