Grant Basey had recently forced his way into the Addicks first team, but injury forced him out again, now he looks like being out for a lengthy spell.

The 18-year-old, who was already highly thought of at the Valley was probably thrust into the side a little sooner than had been planed, or even he expected after injuries to Chris Powell, Bent Thatcher and Cory Gibbs, but he took this chance.

Grant Basey put in a series of impressive performances and looked set to stay in the starting line-up as a result, but then the injury curse struck the Addicks again and he picked up a groin injury last month. This resulted in a hernia problem and he will now undergo surgery, which will keep him out of the reckoning for some time.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on the injury, and the length it could keep Grant Basey out? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Basey has been desperately unlucky, he got into the side and didn’t look at all out of place. He looked like making the left back position his own until his injury, the fact that he will now need surgery is even more of a set-back, but he will come back strong and soon be fighting for this first team spot again.
