If you are going to leave Charlton, and England in general Azerbaijan wouldn’t be the first place that many people think of would it? However this is a move that Deon Burton has made.

Burton has signed a two-year contract for Tony Adams’ Gabala saying that it was an exciting challenge with an ambitious club that ticked all the boxes that he was looking for. His agent Darryl Powell said that the striker waited for a new offer from The Addicks but as it never came he took this one.

The 33-year-old wouldn’t have been offered the money by Charlton that he’ll get in Azerbaijan so this has played a part in his decision making I’d think?

Thanks for your efforts Deon, however I think it’s just about the right time to part company as the injuries were starting to mount up but were taking longer to recover from.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Deon Burton’s move to Azerbaijan? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

I am delighted for him ….ha ha ha….I am sure Azerbajain is a lovely place even though alcohol is banned and everything is pickled….surely this is a two year sentence, and I presume no offer was made because Parky has an ace signing up his sleeve…or at least he better had…
