Another New Signing Joins Charlton

|

This month’s transfer window as a new Goalkeeper joins the ranks at The Valley to give homegrown Addick Dillon Phillips a run for his money as the first-choice keeper.

This is not like the Charlton we know whatsoever! The Addicks are wrapping up business early on in

Chris Maxwell is the new signing who will be on loan to us for the rest of the season. The 28-year-old comes to us from Preston North End and after being put down the pecking order by former Charlton keeper Declan Rudd, Maxwell has stated that coming to Charlton was a no-brainer.

Here are a few words from new signing Chris Maxwell as he spoke with the club’s website “I don’t see it as a drop down in any way, shape or form. Charlton Athletic in my eyes is a top Championship club, if not a Premier League team. The club has been like that for decades. I want to be a part of it. I want this club to achieve where I think it should be and that’s back in the Championship. I aim to help in any way I can.”

Chris already knows what he needs to do, he has joined a great team full of life, joy and passion and he clearly sees Charlton as a Premier League club and that’s great to hear because the Premier League is obviously the ultimate goal for any team below the Premier League some more than others and I think we can put ourselves in that category after relegation 2007 has not seen us return since. Even though we only got him for half a season he wants to be part of this Charlton successes story and with the way things are going surrounding the club, the Premier League may not be that far away.

If the Welshman impresses I’d love to see him back for next season already he seems like he’s got a great personality and hopefully, he’s even better on the pitch. He signed a contract extension at Preston last season until 2020 so next year he probably won’t even break the bank if we decide to get him on a permanent.
