Ahead of the weekend’s action against Ipswich Town, Charlton Athletic announced the loan signing of Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Amos on a season long loan deal.

The 27 year old is a former Manchester United academy graduate and he comes in on a year long deal having spent last season with Cardiff City, so he has solid Championship experience.

Speaking to the Official Site to announce his signing manager Karl Robinson explained.

‘We`re delighted to bring in a goalkeeper of the experience and pedigree that Ben has. He`s played a lot of games in the Championship. I`ve spoken with Ben and he has a real drive and determination to help get this club promoted.’

The player himself said.

‘I`m really happy to have signed and I`m looking forward to getting back playing again. This is a massive club, promotion is our ultimate goal and I hope that I can play my part in helping Charlton to be successful.’

Chief executive Katrien Meire added.

‘The goalkeeper position was an important one for us this summer. We`re very pleased to be able to bring in Ben, especially as It has taken a bit longer than we wanted to get everything complete.’

Amos has over 100 games to his name with all but one being from the start and earlier in his career he represented England at every youth level from Under 16 through to Under 21.

He made his debut this weekend as we took an emphatic victory over Ipswich.
