Ambrose Wants Valley Stay

Addicks midfielder Darren Ambrose has pledged his future to the club and can’t wait to get us back in The Premiership.



Speaking after the Spurs defeat, Ambrose said: ‘We knew we had to win and everyone gave 110 per cent, including the fans. I think we were just unlucky and everyone is gutted.

‘I’ve experienced this before when I played about 10 minutes for Ipswich when it happened but it’s a lot worse this time.

‘The manager has said that we can all hold our heads up high and be proud of the fight that we put up to try to survive.

‘Maybe it was a bit too little too late, and we’re all devastated to be relegated, but we’ve got to look to the future now, try and keep our squad together and bounce straight back up.”

Keeping the squad together will cause a huge headache for Manager Alan Pardew with most of our top players already being rumoured to leave the club.
One player staying put though is Ambrose who sees his future at The Valley.

And he hopes that top scorer, and his close pal, Darren Bent will join him.

‘I’m raring to go for next season. It’s not really sunk in yet that we’ve been relegated and everyone’s feeling gutted but we’ve got to look to the future.

‘Who stays is something for the club to decide. Maybe we should try and keep the loan signings that we’ve got and try to keep Darren Bent – but if that’s not the case we have to try and do it without them.

‘I think we’ve got a good squad as it is but if we can get a few more players in I think we’ll be confident that we can bounce back.

‘Hopefully Darren will stay because he’s been a fantastic player for this club and we need him to help get us back up.”

Our last Premiership game for the moment is Sunday at Liverpool and Ambrose wants to send the fans away with a bit of pride still intact.

‘We’ve still got to go up to Liverpool and play another game and we’re going to work hard in training and try to produce a result that we want and the fans need,” Ambrose said.

‘The fans have been fantastic during this fight we’ve had and we’re going to do our utmost to try and get a good result at Liverpool and then look to next season and try to do a Sunderland and Birmingham.


‘They’ve shown it’s possible and hopefully if we can not lose too many players we might produce some shock results next year to come back up – and I think we’re all confident that we can do that.

‘We’ve had a good run since the manager’s come in. He’s got so much experience in these situations, he’s done it before and hopefully he can do it again.

‘We’re all backing the manager 110 per cent and he’ll give us the same backing.

‘Hopefully the fans will stick with us and everyone will be able to look forward to next season.”
