Alan Pardew is still in the hunt for Freddy Eastwood despite rumours the forward has joined Wolves.

This is turning into a busy night. We have just announced the signings of Todorov and now Southend have claimed the Addicks are fighting it out with wolves for Eastwood.

It’s still unclear about the future of Southend striker Freddy Eastwood despite Wolves claiming they have agreed to sign the 23-year-old.

Wolves announced on Wednesday afternoon they had been successful with an undisclosed bid – thought to be for £2million – for the highly-rated forward and had agreed terms with Eastwood on a four-year deal.

But Southend chairman Ron Martin has released a statement saying Wolves are involved in a ‘two-horse race’ with us for Eastwood.

The statement, on the Shrimpers’ official website, read: ‘The Club have allowed Freddy Eastwood to speak to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

‘However, what Wolverhampton have subsequently announced is incorrect. We have not agreed to accept any offer for Freddy.

‘Wolves have agreed to meet our minimum criteria and on that basis we were happy for them to talk to our player.

‘(On Wednesday afternoon) Charlton Athletic improved their offer by changing the structure and they too are keen to secure the services of Freddy Eastwood.

‘It remains a two-horse race and we will have to await the outcome over the next few days.’

Eastwood, who is 23, has scored 49 goals in 111 appearances for the Shrimpers and caught the eye with several dazzling displays last term, including scoring the winning goal to knock Manchester United out of the Carling Cup.

Pardew is hoping to bring in Freddy to lighten the blow of losing Darren Bent to Spurs. It seems so unlike Charlton to have so many forwards but we like it Pards, Keep them coming.

Eastwood has enough about him to add something to the team and we need goals to make the return to The Premiership achievable.

Do you want Freddy? Is he better off here than Wolves? Will he play? Have your say now?

Always liked him but im sure he has gone to Wolves???

  • Pardew is God says:

Why would he go wolves over us? Simply because we have signed a lot of strikers and he may not think he’ll play enough. If he dont facy it leave him alone Pards. If hes good enough he will come.

Sky Sports last night certainly think you still have a chance of signing him!

  • Ed Junior says:

No it has all been done and dusted. As I said I wished he had come to you but it is offical that he is a wolves man.

  • Wolves Wolf says:

Great signing for Wolves!! Done and dusted!! He’s more than good enough “Pardew is God” You will see that when he scores 25 goals next season!! He’s made the right choice coming to Molineux!

  • Pardew is God says:

For playing time he has made the right choice i guess. He would struggle with Varney in our side along with M.Bent, Iwelumo, Todorov and Dickson. Cant see him playing regular at The Valley so better off at Wolves. Still think we will get promoted miles before you lot. Mick McCarthys a joke,

  • Wolves Wolf says:

Can’t be that much of a joke when he’s signed a player you were dying to get your hands on for a “knock down” price of £1.5m!! Pretty clever if you ask me!! You will get promoted without doubt, but dont think your gonna walk it, it’s a tough division!!

  • Ed Junior says:

erm I think you will find it was at least 2 mill:

Wolfy if we was dying to get him we would have offered bigger money. Lets face it we could out bid most clubs in the div. Once we signed Toddy it looked like Pardew has decided to go for the tried and tested and maybe our current 5 forwards is enough???
