Diego Poyet made his eagerly awaited Charlton debut on Tuesday night when he got on as a late substitute in the FA cup win at Oxford.

He might have only got 10-minutes or so but it was a 10-minutes that the 18-year-old says he’ll never forget, which has left him buzzing.

Poyet told BBC London 94.9: ‘It was a great moment and one I will never forget.

‘I have been at Charlton since I was 11 and I was very happy to come on the pitch. When the gaffer told me I was absolutely buzzing to get on.

‘I have worked with a lot of coaches and been here for many years. Every coach has played their part and helped me in a different way.

‘At the moment I have got Jason and he has helped me this year.’

Diego had been strongly linked with a move to Sunderland, which is an easy connection to make with his father the manager at the Stadium of Light, but Chris Powell has always insisted that he sees Poyet as a long term option for him at the Valley.

Having made his debut maybe the midfielder will now be able to get further opportunities this season?
